2018 Kia Stinger Debut – San Angelo Dealer Review

2018 Kia Stinger

The 2018 Kia Stinger has made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This new rear-wheel-drive sports sedan has been on the drawing board for years and was originally introduced as Kia’s GT concept vehicle. Now in production, the Stinger promises to be the highest-performance production vehicle in Kia’s history. It will be offered with a choice of two turbocharged engines; a four-cylinder 2.0-liter Theta II engine that produces an estimated 255 horsepower or a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 Lambda engine with an anticipated 365 horsepower. With this powerful model Kia is targeting 5.1 seconds to 62 mph and a top speed of 167 mph (twin turbocharged V6 engine).

Although similar to Kia’s K900, the Stinger is absolutely distinct with a sleek and sporty exterior, low coupe like roofline and a versatile fastback hatch. Its long hood, short front overhang and long rear overhang give this new Kia an air of elegance and athleticism while an extended wheelbase delivers a spacious cabin with extra legroom. The low-slung cabin is positioned toward the rear of the vehicle, creating a fast silhouette. A selection of upscale materials and fabrics are available including ultra-soft Nappa leather seats. The center console is divided into specific areas: infotainment controls are located below a large color touchscreen with climate and ventilation controls located directly beneath.

The new Kia Stinger chassis is comprised of 55 percent advanced high-strength steel. This ultra-stiff and rigid body frame contributes to reduced NVH and provides a more quiet cabin. This model will benefit from Kia’s first electronically adjustable suspension, know as Dynamic Stability Damping Control, which allows the driver to modify specific vehicle handling traits. The sports influenced front and rear suspension have also been tuned to provide optimal feedback to the driver.

Designed to go toe to toe with the likes of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, the Stinger will be available at a competitive price and will be backed by Kia Motors’ industry-leading quality and reliability.  The 2018 Kia Stinger is expected to go on sale in the U.S. late this year. Please contact our San Angelo Kia Dealership if you would like to learn more about this exciting new Kia Sport Sedan.
