The Kia Niro, Soul and Cadenza have been named segment winners in the J.D. Power 2017 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study. Kia was the only non-premium brand to earn three segment wins in this year’s study. The Kia Niro won the Small SUV segment, Kia Soul took the Compact Multi-Purpose segment and the Kia Cadenza earned top honors for the Large Car segment.
Each year the J.D. Power APEAL study measures new-vehicle owners’ overall satisfaction with their vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership. Categories of exterior, interior, storage, audio, seats, heating and ventilation, driving dynamics, powertrain visibility and fuel economy are all measured.
“Customers always want cars they’re proud to own and Kia earning three J.D. Power APEAL awards reflects the global focus we have placed on ensuring our customers come first,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, Kia Motors America. “Buyers today have more choices than ever and are looking for vehicles that offer a superior combination of design, technology, safety, efficiency and premium amenities. The Niro, Soul, and Cadenza are prime examples of these important attributes as more people discover Kia’s world-class model line every day.”
In addition to 3 top ranking models in the APEAL study, this year Kia Motors was also ranked highest in the industry in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) for the second year in a row.
